Founded in 2018 as a grassroots effort to bring the sport of touch rugby to the city of Philadelphia, Philly Touch Rugby is now an official 501(c)(3) organized and operated exclusively to foster national and international amateur sports competition primarily by supporting and developing amateur athletes for competitions in the sport of touch rugby and conducting national and international competitions.

Philly Touch Rugby organized touch around the Federation of International Touch (FIT) rules, is a registered USA Touch team, and welcomes all players to the pitch. No prior experience is necessary. Come learn the game and make great friends.

Our Board of Directors

Philly Touch Rugby’s Board of Directors is made up of individuals who are passionate about building community through sport. Each Board member has a history with the sport of rugby and touch rugby as players, coaches, referees, tournament organizers, and advocates who are excited to support and advance PTR’s mission of bringing the sport of touch rugby to the Philadelphia community.

    Rob began playing competitive touch in 2015 following 13 years of playing 15s and 7s rugby. He's been on USA Touch National Champion teams in the Mixed and Mens divisions, played on the Mens 30s USA team at the 2019 Touch World Cup, and played in tournaments across the USA and in Toronto, Cayman Islands, and New Zealand. Since 2018, he's been working on building a team in Philadelphia and is excited to be a part of the growth of the sport in the Philly area.

    Anna has over a decade of rugby experience playing 15s and 7s and recently delved into touch rugby, obtaining her L1 ref certification and officiating at the 2023 USA Touch Rugby Nationals in Oklahoma City. She brings valuable experience offering insights into club operations, event organization, etc., from her previous club board roles and is looking forward to building a strong touch rugby community in Philadelphia and surrounding areas.

    Played rugby union 15s and 7s for 13 years and retired from full contact for several years before giving F.I.T. a fair shake once he hit “old boys” status. Bryan has been the Tournament Director for the ever popular Surfside 7s Rugby Tournament hosted by Philadelphia-Whitemarsh RFC in Stone Harbor, NJ for the last eight years. During his rugby union career he has made several trips to the National Championships and would like to do the same with Philly Touch.

    Experienced Sports Management leader, including six years of recreation and special event programming in the non-profit sector and several years supporting rugby in the US including tournament operations at the Las Vegas Invitational and the Collegiate Rugby Championship in Philadelphia. Additional experience includes Athletic Operations Director at Penn State University, 15+ years coaching and being an instrumental part in building several rugby clubs in the Philly area from the ground up. I was first introduced to rugby in 2002 at Temple University and officially hung up my boots in 2021. I am a huge believer that sports and physical activity are extremely important and I look forward to supporting Philly Touch Rugby as we grow!

    A native of Australia, Mick has over 20 years’ Touch experience at International, National and State levels and has represented Australia (as a player) at the 2007 & 2019 World Cups and 2010 and 2013 Trans-Tasman Series as well as representing both New South Wales and Queensland across 7 State of Origin Series. He has also recently been selected to represent the USA at the 2024 WorldCup. Mick is an accredited Talent level coach and coaching course presenter. He has coached mens, womens, mixed, masters and youth teams from grassroots to elite level. Mick believes Touch is an excellent way to keep fit, meet new friends, and be a part of a community. He is excited for the future of Philly Touch and encourages newcomers to give Touch a try.
